The Sikkim Government celebrates its 45th Statehood Day. Every year Sikkim celebrates its State Day in May 16 as the state came into existence on this day in 1975.

About the day:

After India became independent in 1947, Sikkim continued to enjoy the protectorate status with the republic of India.
However, in 1973, anti-royalist riots occurred in the state.
The monarch was eventually deposed in 1975. A referendum led to the state joining India.
Sikkim was the 22nd state to join Union of India.
Sikkim borders three countries namely China, Bhutan and Nepal.

About State:

In 2016, Sikkim became the first fully organic state in the India and also in the world. The initiative to achieve this began in 2003.
About 35% of the state is covered by the Khangchendzonga National Park. The official languages of Sikkim include Nepali, English, Sikkimese and Lepcha.
The State Animal of Sikkim is Red Panda, state bird is Blood Pheasant, state flower is Noble dendrobium and state tree is Rhododendron.
The Constitution does not restrict the use of separate symbols. Every state has its own emblems. There are certain laws that make sure the symbols are honoured and not defamed.
These acts are Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950 and Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
As of Sikkim has special emblem.

Why it is in News?

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana was launched in May 2016.
This app completed four years of its implementation.

About the scheme:

The scheme has so far helped more than 8 crore families. Around Rs 8,432 crores have been transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under the scheme.
In order to mark the success, on May 16, 2020, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan interacted with 1500 beneficiaries.
In order to fight COVID-19 and also ease lives of the people of India during lock down, PM Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana.
Under the scheme, free food grains were provided, farmers were provided with money transfers under PM KISAN Samman Nidhi, money was also transferred to women Jan Dhan Accounts Above all, under the scheme free cylinders were provided.
Around 2.66 crore free cylinders were already delivered and 3.05 crore free cylinders have been booked.
Around Rs 5,000 crores were transferred to Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala accounts to obtain free cylinders

Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana:

Why it is in News?

The Chhattisgarh State Government is to launch the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.
The scheme is to be launched on May 21, 2020. The scheme is being launched to commemorate the death anniversary of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gan

About Scheme:

The scheme will infuse Rs 5,100 crores into the rural economy of the state. This is to be done through Direct Benefit Transfer.
The provisions for the scheme were made during the State Budget 2020-21.
Under the scheme, the farmers are to be paid Rs 10,000 per acre for the crops such as sugarcane, corn and paddy.
The scheme will benefit more than 1.87 million farmers. The funds are to be transferred to the farmers based on the registered and notified areas for oilseeds and pulses.
These schemes will make the states self-sufficient and will aid in the Vocal for Local that is to be implemented in the country.
The COVID-19 crisis has very well shown the importance of local produce. This boosts the income of the farmers and also makes the essential goods available in affordable prices.

Armed Forces Day – Third Saturday in May

Context:

Armed Forces Day on the third Saturday in May pays tribute to the military personnel serving in the United States Armed Forces.
The celebration takes place each year during Armed Forces Week.

About the day:

Armed Forces Day is a special holiday for people all over the world to come together and thank the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.
The day honors all people currently serving in the U.S. armed forces.
This includes the men and women who have served or are serving in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard, including the National Guard and Reserve components.
First conceived by President Harry S. Truman, the holiday was established in 1949.
The creation of a single day celebration for all five branches of the United States military made sense due to its recent unification under the Department of Defense.
The first official Armed Forces Day took place on May 20, 1950, and was themed “Teamed for Defense.”
In honor of the special day, B-36 Bombers flew over state capitals, a march was led by more than 10,000 veterans and troops in Washington, D.C., and over 33,000 people participated in a New York City parade.
In 1961, John F. Kennedy declared Armed Forces Day a national holiday.
It’s celebrated on the third Saturday of every May and is exhibited by exercises, parades, and receptions that highlight and honor our amazing military and all of its strength.

केंद्रीय कृषि और किसान कल्याण मंत्री ने राष्ट्रीय कृषि बाजार (ई-नाम) के साथ 177 नई मंडियों के एकीकरण का शुभारंभ किया।

ई-नाम मंच के बारे में:

यह कृषि विपणन को मजबूत करने और किसानों को ऑनलाइन पोर्टल के माध्यम से अपनी फसल की उपज को बेचने की सुविधा प्रदान करने के लिए है।
राष्ट्रीय कृषि बाजार (e-NAM) पूरे भारत में एक इलेक्ट्रॉनिक ट्रेडिंग पोर्टल है।
पोर्टल का उद्देश्य मौजूदा मंडियों को भारत में कृषि वस्तुओं के लिए “वन नेशन वन मार्केट” में एकीकृत करना है।
ई-एनएएम 14 अप्रैल 2016 को भारतीय प्रधान मंत्री द्वारा शुरू किया गया था।
छोटे किसान एग्रीबिजनेस कंसोर्टियम (एसएफएसी) ईएनएएम को लागू करने के लिए प्रमुख एजेंसी है। यह पोर्टल कृषि और किसान कल्याण मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के तत्वावधान में कार्य करता है।
एनएएम पोर्टल सभी कृषि उपज बाजार समिति (एपीएमसी) से संबंधित सूचना और सेवाओं के लिए एकल-खिड़की सेवा प्रदान करता है, जिसमें वस्तु आगमन, गुणवत्ता और मूल्य, व्यापार प्रस्तावों पर प्रतिक्रिया देने का प्रावधान और किसानों के खातों में इलेक्ट्रॉनिक भुगतान निपटान और सीधे मदद शामिल है। बेहतर बाजार पहुंच के लिए उन्हें।

एफआईआर द्वार योजना:

मध्य प्रदेश राज्य सरकार ने भोपाल में एफएपी द्वार योजना शुरू की।
इस तरह की अभिनव योजना को लागू करने वाला मध्य प्रदेश देश का पहला राज्य बन गया है। इसे मध्य प्रदेश के गृह मंत्री द्वारा लॉन्च किया गया था।

योजना के बारे में:

इस योजना के तहत, लोगों को एफआईआर दर्ज करने के लिए पुलिस स्टेशन का दौरा करने की आवश्यकता नहीं होगी।
इस योजना को एक पायलट प्रोजेक्ट के रूप में 23 पुलिस स्टेशनों में शुरू किया गया है, जिसमें एक शहरी और एक ग्रामीण पुलिस स्टेशन में 11 मंडल मुख्यालय हैं।
इस योजना के तहत, डायल 100 वाहन में एफआईआर दर्ज करने के लिए हेड कांस्टेबलों को प्रशिक्षित किया जाएगा।
सामान्य प्रकृति की शिकायतों पर एफआईआर मौके पर दर्ज की जाएगी। गंभीर शिकायतों के मामले में, वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों से मार्गदर्शन मांगा जाएगा।
मंत्री ने हेल्पलाइन ‘डायल 112’ भी लॉन्च किया।
यह जहाँ कहीं भी आवश्यक हो एम्बुलेंस, पुलिस, और अग्निशमन सेवाओं की तत्काल उपलब्धता की सुविधा प्रदान करेगा।

चेम्पियंस पोर्टल का उद्देश्य छोटी इकाइयों को उनकी शिकायतों को सुलझाने, प्रोत्साहित करने, समर्थन करने, मदद करने और उन्हें हल करने से बड़ा बनाना है।
इसे एमएसएमई मंत्रालय के वास्तविक वन-स्टॉप-शॉप समाधान के रूप में विकसित किया गया है।
यह एक प्रौद्योगिकी-पैक नियंत्रण कक्ष-सह-प्रबंधन सूचना प्रणाली है।
सिस्टम को आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस (एआई), डेटा एनालिटिक्स, और मशीन लर्निंग के अलावा टेलीफोन, इंटरनेट और वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंस सहित आईसीटी टूल्स से सक्षम किया गया है।
सिस्टम के हिस्से के रूप में, कंट्रोल रूम का एक नेटवर्क हब एंड स्पोक मॉडल में बनाया गया है। अब तक, 66 राज्य-स्तरीय नियंत्रण कक्ष सिस्टम के हिस्से के रूप में बनाए गए हैं।

e- Nam platform:

Why it is in News?

The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare launched the integration of 177 new mandis with the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM).

About e – Nam platform:

This is to strengthen agriculture marketing and facilitate farmers to sell their harvested produce through the online portal.
National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) is an electronic trading portal across India.
The objective of the portal is to integrate the existing Mandis to “One Nation One Market” for agricultural commodities in India.
e-NAM was launched on 14 April 2016 by the Indian Prime Minister.
Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) is the lead agency for implementing eNAM. The portal functions under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, GoI.
The NAM Portal provides a single-window service for all Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) related information and services which includes commodity arrivals, quality & prices, provision to respond to trade offers, and electronic payment settlement directly into farmers’ accounts and helping them for better market access.

FIR Aapke Dwar Yojana:

Madhya Pradesh state government launched FIR Aapke Dwar Yojana in Bhopal.
Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to implement such an innovative scheme. It was launched by the Madhya Pradesh Home Minister.

About Scheme:

Under the scheme, the people would not be required to visit the police station to lodge an FIR.
The scheme has been started as a pilot project in 23 Police Stations including one urban and one rural Police Station at 11 Divisional Headquarters.
Under the scheme, the Dial 100 vehicle will have trained Head Constables to lodge FIR.
FIRs in complaints of general nature will be lodged on the spot. In case of serious complaints, guidance will be sought from senior officers.
The Minister also launched helpline ‘Dial 112’.
It will facilitate the immediate availability of ambulance, police, and fire fighting services wherever needed.

Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) have launched the CHAMPIONS portal, a Technology-driven Control Room-Cum-Management Information System.
The CHAMPIONS stands here for the Creation and Harmonious Application of Modern Processes for Increasing the Output and National Strength.

About Portal:

CHAMPIONS’ portal aims to make the smaller units big by solving their grievances, encouraging, supporting, helping, and handholding.
It has been developed as a real one-stop-shop solution of MSME Ministry.
It is a technology-packed control room-cum-management information system.
The system is enabled by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analytics, and Machine Learning in addition to ICT tools including telephone, internet, and video conference.
As part of the system, a network of control rooms is created in a Hub & Spoke Model. So far, 66 state-level control rooms are created as part of the system.
